I just watched "Superman IV: The Quest For Peace" last night, in which a kid, worried about the potential of nuclear war with the Soviet Union, writes a letter to Superman and asks him to destroy all the world's nuclear weapons. After a bit of pondering over the issue and generally not listening to the Kryptonian elders, he gathers all the nuclear weapons in a giant space-net and hurls them into the sun.

The world could use a Superman now. No, instead we get Dr. Strangelove.
