 Angel season 5. Spike has taken to calling Wes "Percy", and mocks him for being a Head Boy. Please tell me the writers were aware of what they were doing.

Oh, there've been HP references in the Buffyverse before (e.g. Dawn, on buying school supplies and stopping by the magic shop: "Yeah, Mom, I'm not going to Hogwarts." Buffy: *blank look* Dawn: "Jeez, crack a book sometime."). I am perfectly sure that the writers knew EXACTLY what they were doing when Spike started calling Wes "Percy."
