Our family has a new member! Delivered at 3:41PM on July 7th, 2005, weighing approximately 7 pounds. 1.67" thin x 14.2"(w) x 10.3"(d).



Meet Charlie, named for Dominic Monaghan's character on Lost, because I thought it would be funny to name a computer after an addict. He's an impressionable young Dell Precision M70, with a gig of RAM and an 80 gig hard drive.

Today, I finally got rid of HAL, my ancient, ancient computer that had just been gathering dust. Lots of dust. As I dismantled him, I hummed "Daisy, Daisy" and felt terribly clever. And today, I begin the Great Data Transfer from Jimmy to Charlie, as Jimmy is going to be wiped, then sent to my sister. Thank you, Jimmy, for years of loyal-ish service! Thank you, HAL, for being a big box with electrons in it!
