The Cult of Lincoln

Tonight, I held a mini-Shindig of sorts to celebrate the Sci-Fi Channel premiere of Firefly. Cherise, Burkhead, and Chungy helped ring in the new dawn for Browncoats! Or something. Fun was had! Strawberries, too. I wore my Kaylee costume, because it's something that's easy to throw on and that I can actually wear in public without looking too out of place.

I hope Burkhead enjoyed it. She was the only uninitiated present (Cherise and Chungy went to the Serenity screenings with me), and she's not as sci-fi geekish as the rest of us. Then the commercial breaks (which were WAY too often) and really lame broadcast quality didn't really work in our favor, either. The entire Serenity Valley opening sequence was mostly just black screen. *kicks TV* We should have just popped in the DVD, but I got a bit enamored with the idea of seeing commercials for Firefly (there was a Serenity TV spot! But it was just clips from the first trailer).

Afterwards, we watched the first 45 minutes or so of Brad Neely's hilarious Wizard People, Dear Reader. We frequently drowned out the audio track, we were laughing so hard. I encourage all Potter fans to download the tracks and set up your own mini-screenings! Too funny for words.

Next, we watched bits from the Republican National Convention on The Daily Show's Indecision 2004 DVD, which we had bought this afternoon, once Mom realized Jon Stewart's genius in the "Fresh Air" interview this morning on NPR. Huzzah! Then we went to Starbucks, then back home for more Daily Show.

And I return to the net to learn that the rumors are true, and that James Marsters is going to be on Smallville. *cackles* At least this time it's a show that's really fun to ridicule watch. His guest spot on The Mountain is one hour of my life that I can never have back. But now Smallville? Hah, if Lost wasn't on at the same time last year, I might have even watched last season. It's a nice break from schoolwork, because all the characters on the show are so deliciously stupid. And it's fun to play "Figure out the technical details of individual special effects on TV shows". I love Zoic. Check out their Demo Reel some time. They did all the Joss stuff, too!
