The Cult of Lincoln

Yesterday, on Locust Walk, the pro-lifers were out in force. Every twenty feet for a block and a half, there would be stationed a pro-lifer with a glossy 4x3-foot poster of a gruesomely dismembered aborted fetus. People can be so vile.

Fortunately, the sidewalk next to the 38th Street Bridge compensated somewhat for the macabre spectacle on the other side. Someone had written out in huge masking tape letters an apology for sleeping with a guy. Contextual clues seemed to indicate that a guy had written it. I should have gotten a picture of it; it was gone this morning.

Today, I had two midterms, one in Psychology of Perception and the other in Physics. I was surprised by some of the Psyc questions and didn't do as well as I'd hoped, though I still think I did well. As for Physics, I rocked the first two of four questions, and I'm fairly convinced I did the same for the other two, but for those I'm either really right or really wrong. I still feel good about myself Physics-wise. I definitely felt like I had a handle on the material.

Meanwhile, why isn't anyone on LJ talking about the Earthquake in South Asia Saturday? I've only seen one post on it, a note from Leaky expressing condolances. Originally, I thought the RSS feed had messed up, and was dredging up posts from the tsumani last December. It's terrifying--this feels like it's been the Year of the Natural Disaster. The death toll is currently at 40 thousand--nearly a third of the death toll of the Tsunami and some forty times the loss of life from Katrina. I can only hope for any of you who have friends or relatives in the area that they were able to get to safety, and that the towns and families devastated in the quake are able to heal and rebuild.
