Making Money comes out September fiiiiiiiiiiirst! But alas, Pterry will not be signing in the US this year. He didn't last year, either. I HATE YOU, COLLEGEBOXES, FOR LOSING MY SIGNED DISCWORLD FAMILY VALUES POSTER. And, y'know, everything else they lost.
Still bitter after a year? No, not at all. But ROCK ON! Making Money just appeared on the New York Public Library's website, so I quickly placed a hold. There's only one hold ahead of me, and they're getting in 6 copies at my favourite location (72 copies over all the branches!), so I'll get the book as soon as the library does! WIN! The New York Public Library is so much love. Labels: i hate college boxes Priscilla said at 5:27 PM

Happy Year of Two James Bond!
That's not going to get old until February, at least. I decided to do a hybrid between the two 2006 recap memes floating around. Rather than filling out a survey, I'm doing a little summary for each month, starting with the first sentence of the first post of each month. I'm a rebel.
Good Riddance, 2006! Bring on 2007! I've eaten my black eyed peas this time (they didn't have any in Greece) so all should be good. Resolutions include:

Yesterday was keen! I stopped by the comics shop (not a huge selection, but hey! It's across the street!) to pick up a comic Jimmy recced. They didn't have it, but they had the fourth trade of Runaways (gotta catch up before Joss takes over), and they randomly had Dave McKean's Cages! I've been wanting to get my hands on it, but Amazon is sold out! Bwee!
I also went to Ko's dance show, which ROCKED THE HOUSE. Ko = talented + brilliant + pretty, curse her! And speaking of her brilliance, she is ONE OF TWELVE FINALISTS FOR THE RHODES SCHOLARSHIPS. She just found out last night. There has been so much squee in this room since then, it's like we're hosting a convention of Legolas fangirls. She needs to write a 50-word blurb about herself for her Marshall Scholarship interview tomorrow, but because she's so busy, I hired my five-year-old self to do it for her (I love how my usual handwriting is even messier than that). Unfortunately, five-year-old-me can't count very well Did I ever mention my new lamp in my blog? I should have. Because it's COOLER THAN ANYTHING YOU WILL EVER POSSESS IN YOUR INADEQUATE LIFETIME. I got it a couple weeks ago to replace the one CollegeBoxes lost. And it actually gives off a lot more light than you would expect from that picture, stupid lying camera. I also met with my computer science TA, and we fixed a problem that had been plaguing me all last week. I'm now in the home stretch of my project! Speaking of squee (see above, re: RHODES FINALIST), I got to meet the Brothers Quay in my film class on Thursday! If you haven't seen any of their gorgeous and trippy stop-motion films, do so ASAP! Some Links and a Meme: Can I be Masi Oka when I grow up? Asylum Street Spankers: Stick Magnetic Ribbons on your SUV And a new Potter Puppet Pals episode: Wizard Angst! You paid attention during 97% of high school! 85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! Good show, old chap! "So we get a plan," I said. "Any suggestions?"Can I hire Kinkaid to take care of CollegeBoxes? I just got my claims check today. After all this agony, they stiffed me fifty-five bucks. Oh, CollegeBoxes, there will be hell to pay. Also me to pay. In case that wasn't clear. Labels: i hate college boxes Priscilla said at 3:42 PM

After six weeks, CollegeBoxes has given up the search for my boxes, and they're just sending me a check. ARRRRRGH! Kiss that Pterry-autographed Discworld Family Values poster goodbye. I hope he comes through Philly again before I leave. Does anyone know when Making Money is coming out? On the other hand, it's nice to finally get that sense of closure so I can just re-buy all the stuff they lost, and Ko and I won't have to deal with no telephones or pot lids or trash cans or shower curtains or measuring cups/spoons or my laundry hamper or my lampshade or my upright pillow etc etc etc.
Fortunately, most of the stuff is very replacable. It's just a matter of tracking everything down and buying new stuff. I'll stop by the bookstore and Radio Shack tomorrow when it isn't raining, and I'll try to find all the stuff I originally got at Bed Bath and Beyond on their website. What a hassle. The faint silver lining is that I get to pick out new posters! The old list: Serenity, Rent, Star Wars (Darth Vader "Who's Your Daddy?"), Hero, Lord of the Rings: TTT (with Merry and Pippin), Discworld Family Values, The Incredibles, and Moulin Rouge. My Amelie and Corpse Bride mini-posters survived, as they were put in one of the boxes that made it, and I've already bought the Veronica Mars noir-style poster, and I'm thinking about one of those weird international Serenity posters to replace my dearly departed American one. Oh, eBay, sing to me your sweet siren song! Labels: i hate college boxes Priscilla said at 11:11 AM

Time for a random update!
I finished the first 2/5 of my math homework, now five sections instead of three! I should compose a song about it, to the tune of "I got a jar of di-irt." *does a jig* Last night I attended a staged version of John Irving's A Prayer for Owen Meany. The first act was excellent, but the second act was atrocious and easily three times the length it needed to be. Ah well. I understand it's still being workshopped, so hopefully they'll fix some of the more glaring problems. Tonight, I saw Aaron and pals in Much Ado About Nothing, which was hilarious and awesome. Three cheers (and lots of revelry) for all involved! Now tallying 16 days without my stuff, CollegeBoxes remains useless, and I am now being told that someone will get in touch with me early next week. Wow, that sure is helpful, especially seeing as I got the "We'll call you in the next 48 hours" line last Tuesday, and I had to call them. And back to the grindstone for me. Apparently my Calc III professor decided we didn't have quite enough due on Monday and added an additional two sections. WTF???????
Also, *definitely* setting CollegeBoxes on fire. Labels: i hate college boxes Priscilla said at 4:39 PM

So apparently CollegeBoxes' records say that they delivered my stuff yesterday. That's interesting.

CollegeBoxes claims to have found my stuff, but they also claimed that I would receive it before 5:30 yesterday evening. Still no word.

The less said about yesterday, the better. It certainly wasn't a bad day, but it was just peppered by a series of tiny disappointments, mitigated with enough happy that I don't feel justified in complaining, but which still really bug me.
CollegeBoxes is giving me the distinct impression that they're never going to find my stuff. It isn't dire, as practically everything I have identified as missing is replaceable, except for the Paul Kidby "Discworld Family Values" poster, autographed by Pterry himself. I'll just have to hope he comes back through Philly to promote Unseen Academicals or whatever comes next, as it's definitely not on the list for the Wintersmith tour. My Physics professor, for some inexplicable reason, rescheduled our final exam for two hours after I was supposed to fly home for Christmas. I hope I can find a flight to replace it. The Digital Figure Modeling class was cancelled, so I can't do my Independent Study. I'll try again in the Spring. Looking over my CPG for something to replace said Independent Study, I realized that I'm still missing a Math elective, whereas I thought last semester would be my last Math class. Joy. Though on the bright side, I won a promo code to download the Heroes pilot, and I just heard about Pan's Labyrinth, which looks totally awesome. And my booxes of books finally arrived, plus two of my course books from Amazon, which is being unusually slow for some reason. Labels: heroes, i hate college boxes Priscilla said at 10:14 AM

Back at Penn! For once, there was no plane drama. Instead, the great drama stemmed from CollegeBoxes storage service, which has
