I need to get back to actual blogging. Twitter has made me complacent! Unfortunately, this is not an actual blog entry, but instead a 1AM conversation over IM. I went to sleep soon afterward, no doubt to face wacky, delightful dreams.
Gypsy: *leeeeeeeeeans* Priscellie: *snugs* Gypsy: Middleman/Pushing Daisies fic - does it exist? And if not, WHY NOT? Priscellie: OH MY GOD WHERE IS IT Gypsy: THESE ARE MY TWO GUARANTEED HAPPY SHOWS. THEY MUST BAND TOGETHER TO FORM A CONGLOMERATE OF AWESOME. Priscellie: Okay, I just conceived of Emerson/Ida grumpyawesomeness. By rule 34, it must exist. Therefore, Middleman/Pushing Daisies fic must exist! Gypsy: ... OMG YES. Gypsy: UNIVERSE. IF YOU LOVE ME EVEN THE SLIGHTEST BIT YOU WILL HAVE SOMEONE WRITE THIS. Priscellie: OMG OMG OMG Priscellie: Emerson can knit her a Baby Heydar cozy. Gypsy: X3 Gypsy: Chuck and Lacey would bond... Olive and Wendy could swap stories about their bosses... Priscellie: The Middleman could take Aunts Lily and Vivian to see old-timey movies. Somehow, they would end up in a 3D feature, and Lily would have a red-glass monocle and a blue-colored eyepatch. Gypsy: Brilliant! Gypsy: DUDE, they both take place in unspecified vaguely fantastical locations. Gypsy: (Unless they don't. Did they ever say where The Middleman took place?) Priscellie: other than an illegal sublet, shared by two photogenic young artists? Not that I recall. Gypsy: hee Priscellie: and Ned's power... totally crossoverable. Gypsy: Soooooo totally. Priscellie: We are lunatics. But only the best kind. Gypsy: You know you love me. Priscellie: *hugs your brain* Priscellie: I love mah Becky! Chungy asked for Pushing Daisies in the meme, so here goes!
1. bake cupcakes for Emerson! He needs cupcake-love. Then maybe he'll knit me a hat or a cute pair of gloves in return, as I lose hats and gloves faster than an arcade gamer loses quarters. 2. trust with the keys to my car Ned, I suppose. He gets in a lot of potentially car-damaging situations, but he does love driving, and he would have the best of intentions for keeping my car safe. 3. put thumbtacks on their chair I can't think of anyone in the Pushing Daisies universe that deserves this! There is so much love in this show, even the villains are too caricatured to deserve thumbtacks. Instead, I shall thumbtack anyone that ever considers canceling it. 4. have a crush on *clutches Ned defiantly as Chuck and Olive attempt to pry me loose with a crowbar* 5. pack up and leave if they moved next door That guy who lived in the sewer in the explosive pop-up book episode, simply because of the smell! 6. vote for President Digby 7. pick as my partner in a buddy movie Olive. So much Olive. 8. pair up Olive and the Homeopathic Mood Enhancer Guy. F'reals. 9. vote off the island and into the volcano Ditto #3. I love all the major characters, and the nasty minor characters already tend to get their just desserts. (Har!) 10. wheedle into fixing my MP3 player Wouldn't it be cool if Ned's ability to touch dead things and bring them back to life applied to electronics? Though as my mp3 player is an iPod and Apple has an awesome customer service policy, this would not be a problem that needed fixing by fictional characters. OMG, GALINDA AND AUDREY ARE ON MY TEEVEE, SINGING ABOUT BIRDCAGES IN THE HEART. Why is Pushing Daisies the best show ever?
And EEE, ABC just picked up the back 9! A quirky show I love isn't getting canceled after like two episodes! Pinch me, I must be dreaming. Labels: pushing daisies, tv Priscilla said at 9:59 PM

*laughs* Oh, win! Bryan Fuller said at Comic Con that a musical episode of Pushing Daisies is "inevitable." For a cast that includes Kristin Chenoweth and Ellen Greene? Yes please! :D
I've now seen the pilots of Pushing Daisies, Chuck, and Reaper. All three were lots of fun! I feel good about this new fall season. Half of the shows I watched last year were canceled (Veronica Mars, Drive, Studio 60, and you know The Dresden Files was canceled even though they haven't made a formal announcement), so I have some nice openings in my schedule! Chuck was delightfully geeky and has Adam Baldwin, but Jake 2.0 did it better. I'll probably watch the next couple episodes, but the pilot didn't really grab me. I'll probably pass on it. Reaper was absolutely hilarious, and I look forward to seeing if the next batch of episodes can match the pilot's evil brilliance when they aren't directed by Kevin Smith. Could go either way. Pushing Daisies was a treat. I understand the network was looking for a show with a fairy tale sensibility and an Amelie flavor, and I'd say they succeeded. It could run the risk of becoming too cloying and cutesy, but I'll trust in Bryan Fuller's genius to keep it from stepping over the line. Oh, Bryan Fuller! My heart beats! You co-gave me Wonderfalls and Heroes, and for that you win my eternal gratitude and love. For those curious, I'm currently watching Burn Notice and Flight of the Conchords. If you're not watching FotC, boy are you missing out! All my coworkers are obsessed with it, so sometimes I forget that other people aren't as crazy about it as we are. It follows the adventures of a folk duo from New Zealand as they seek to achieve fame and success in New York City, and it's pretty much the funniest thing ever. Every episode is chock-full of musical interludes, for example: The Humans Are Dead and It's Business Time. Also John Hodgman cameoed in a recent episode! Waaaatch iiiiiiiit. And finally, Japan brings us Human Tetris.
