Hey! Today is a palidrome day! Happy 03/11/30!
Drudged up from the depths of my archives for Allison: a Harry Potter/Molesworth Crossover. Too funny.
GAK. I just started looking through my photography files from last year, looking to see if I had any printed images that I wanted to scan. I came across my mountains of negatives from my trip to New York and the Eastern State Pennitentiary, and I died of love all over again. I WANT TO GO INTO THE DARKROOM RIGHT NOW AND PRINT UNTIL I AM WRINKLED AND PRUNELIKE AND OLD AND DEAD. And there are so many negatives from last summer! Gah!
I wonder if Becky Young would let me use the darkroom from time to time… I’d be willing to pay a darkroom fee. Hmm. Of course, everything is going to be pretty crazy until Christmas break with more midterms, then exams, and final projects and such. I’ll have plenty of time to print over the holidays, I guess.
A girl cannot survive on digital photography alone.
We’re in the last couple of days of November. Best of luck to all the NaNoWriMoers and NaNoMangoers! *brandishes pompoms*
::gasp::
Watching clips and DVD features for X2. Since when does Kurt wear an indigo-colored, velvety-textured, zip-up turtleneck underneath his leather vest?
My costuming efforts have failed. I am inconsoleable.
Fannish Friday Five:
1) What fandoms are you in that you are truly grateful for, and why?
Harry Potter, without question. Not only did I meet the vast majority of my friends through HP, but through an HP website, I discovered Kell, which got me interested in CG. No other fandom has been this life-changing. Heck, my CGs got me into Penn. The HP fandom didn’t just open a door for me, they demolished the entire wall. And SO MANY WONDERFUL PEOPLE!! Gah, I’d never be able to do one of those “Who am I thankful for” memes, because there are so many of you! *adore, adore, adore*
2) What character are you most thankful for having been introduced to? Why?
Tough one. Probably Percy. I love being a part of PINE. We’re a rare breed, we are. He’s an excellent learning experience, as he’s a model for looking beyond appearances and trying to understand someone’s motivations. I really hope that the Percy Panel at HP2005 happens! (Who was the one talking about the possibility? *pores through LiveJournal* Ah! Amber!) And my status of being credited as the first person ever to write Percy-centric fanfic is one I will brag about until I die.
3) Are you thankful that the fannish sub community exists? Why?
I’m amused by it’s presence, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say Thankful. Wait… by “Fannish sub community”, you mean the Fannish Friday Five, yes? Not Fandom in general? Yeah, I thought that’s what you meant. Okay, s’all good.
4) Is fandom your primary hobby? If not, what is?
Tell me you’re joking. You mean there’s life beyond fandom? XD
5) Within your fannish life, what are you most grateful for this year?
Nimbus, without question. I will treasure every moment I had with Alicey and Maggie and the rest of the gang. And I can’t wait to see my girls again IN 29 DAYS!!!!!11!
Just saw Billeh Master and Commander with Schlien. Three cheers for platonic warrior-bonds between men! (Hip hip huzzah!) Loved all the worshippage of Lord Horatio Nelson, I must say. I started the movie by singing to myself “Who’s your great-great-grandniece? Yes I am!” Not sure how many greats are involved, but my father tells me that we’re direct descendants of Lord Nelson’s brother. (My maternal paternal great-grandmother was a Nelson. Sadie Nelson. She married a man named Carlson, who ran a merchant ship named the Black Adder. XD Their children were Mildred, Myrtle, (a girl I can’t remember), and Priscilla. My namesake, hurrah! Then Mildred named her son (my dad) Nelson, and he named his daughter Nelson. How thoughtful.)
So yeah.
Marcelina and I ate gelato afterwards and squeed over Billeh, the Doctor, and other assorted glees of the film. In really bad French. I began to notice a trend, however: Why do all my beloved doctors get shot? (Stephen, Simon) Why do my beloved all wear stripey pants? (Billeh, Kurt)
Mmm, it’s a puzzlement. And also a puzzlement: was the director speaking DIRECTLY TO ME when, in the first five seconds of the movie, we see a cannon named “Jumping Billy”? “They read my mind!” I whispered to Schlien.
Ah, Billeh. *happysigh*
I know it’s shameful that I allowed myself to go shopping on Black Friday, but when you’re picking up the X2 DVD, it’s SO worth it.
*cackles*
Gah, this is surreal. I just woke up from my own bed and took a bath. Everything seems so wrong, yet so right. I was only away for three months, compared with the 19 years I’ve lived in this house, so Home quickly reasserted itself. Now it seems like my entire college experience was just a dream.
Last night, I swooped down and kidnapped Ashley and Mimi at 10:30 and took them out for hot chocolate, which was crazy fun. Nice to see that the only thing that’s really changed about me is my sleep schedule.
