Serenity opens tomorrow. There are no words, though “EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!” comes close. And tonight, James Marsters on Smallville! 8PM EST.
EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! After over three months of waiting, the next episode of Three Deep (a phenomenal Buffy/Angel web season run by some of the most well-respected authors in fandom) is up! Thank goodness I’ve been working ahead on homework!
In the first episode of Gilligan’s Island, Gilligan and the Skipper build a raft out of bamboo, and they sail off in hopes of reaching Hawaii. They spend hours just floating around in the ocean, until their raft is attacked by a shark, which takes big bites out of the raft! They thwart the shark, but the raft comes apart. They eventually swim to land. Gilligan is toting a single bamboo pole–he has managed to “save the raft”. By following a series of footprints (which they originally believe belong to headhunters), they eventually realize they are back on the same island.
And that’s the plot of Lost 2×02. Now where’s my Veronica Mars?
Typical. No more than a week after I decide to cave and buy the Firefly soundtrack online, Varese Sarabande announces that they’re releasing it on CD November 8th, with at least 5 new tracks. Part of me is OMGSQUEEEEEE, part of me is CURSES, FOILED AGAIN!
And it’s just mean of Whedonesque to taunt me, saying “Promo photos of Amy Acker on Alias“, and then I see Rachel Nichols and think “It’s Rebecca! Is this from an unaired episode of The Inside?” then realize I’m being dumb. Wah, I miss my prematurely cancelled Tim Minear shows!
Wow. Until now, I just thought it was a given that I would watch Veronica Mars, then download both it and Lost so I can watch Lost, burn both to CD, and send them to Chungy in England. But Ko is a recent VM convert, and she has dance rehearsal. I should probably just watch Lost, then Ko and I can watch VM together when it finishes downloading. Stupid rationality getting in the way of me watching the clearly superior show as it airs!
Plus, I think my flist has a lot more Lost fans than Veronica Mars, and navigation will be problematic. FINE, I’ll watch Lost as it airs. I can wait a few more hours to learn who was at the door…
Meanwhile, Ann Larimer wins the internet.
Just got the Serenity soundtrack. LOVE. I’m a bit perplexed as to why the four tracks released at DragonCon are longer than the CD equivalents, but I’m not complaining. I can’t wait to hear this music put to the movie!
And man, that was fast! Amazon says my Serenity soundtrack and Son of a Witch were delivered this morning! Overnight! I can’t wait until 9AM, when the package center opens. I’ll have just enough time to add the soundtrack to my iPod before heading off to Poli Sci class! And here, Amazon was predicting that it wouldn’t arrive until October 13th because I selected “free shipping”!
Here’s a highly amusing article chronicling This Week in the Life of the Average Firefly Flan, a positive review in The Onion’s AV Club, and Serenity appears in today’s strip of PVP.
Who wrote Adam Baldwin’s narration for the Serenity: Inside thing, and can they never be allowed to write again? Man, I could have written something better.
Also, just because movies are highly anticipated, do they have to release so much footage in advance? It was like this with Hitchhiker’s Guide, too! Feh.
Survey: So how many people are going to have icons of the Nathan/Morena “kiss” on their Livejournals tomorrow?
The Golden Headdesk Award goes to Mugglenet.
And a meme ganked from Indy: When you see this on your Friends List, quote Firefly.
I’ve been listening to the Sci-Fi Channel’s Firefly marathon in the background as I do my homework, and as I read Indy’s post, River said: “‘Day’ is a vestigial mode of time measurement. Based on solar cycles. Not applicable. (beat) I didn’t get you anything.”
Got my ticket for Serenity opening night! I’ll be joining the lovely ladies of PhauxCon at the Bridge. LA!
Chungy: I don’t have a VCR, but I’m sure someone else will tape the Serenity special and make it available online to those that don’t get Sci-Fi.
