Oh! I forgot to mention that we finally got our ceiling fixed today! The result is a square piece of plastic that looks like a hatch with no handle. I wanted to name it “Desmond” and write “4 8 15 16 23 42” along the edge, but Ko, having never seen an episode of Lost, vetoed my plan. In the end, we decided we would make a sign for the far wall that says “Escape Hatch” in Navy stencil lettering, pointing up. And I convinced her to let me put the Numbers along the edge, which should entertain all the Lost fans that happen to look up whilst using the toilet. As soon as the mischief is managed, I’ll take pictures and post them.

You’re KIDDING. After last night’s vidding disappointment, out of curiosity (and a healthy dose of paranoia), I searched google to see if anyone had already done Muse’s “Time is Running Out,” the spuffy vid I’ve been plotting out and gathering clips for for the last couple weeks, only to find someone else has already done that one, too. In fact, it’s been done at least twice. (And a third time, centering around Fred of all people, but I’m ignoring that.) But I like mine a lot more, so I’m sticking with it. Mine’s all chronological, and much darker. Seasons 5&6: Spike’s obsession, Spike’s POV. It gets all dark and twisted; I’m very excited about it. I just wish I had a ridiculously silly Spangel vid to balance it out. &lt/useless whinging&gt

I win the prize for “Outstanding Innovation in the Face of Stupidity”! My PSYC partner and I each spent over an hour trying to figure out how to generate sine waves in Excel. As we both wanted to spend last night studying for our midterms rather than finishing up what we thought would be a trifling exercise for our homework, we decided to meet before class to finish up. She came over at 9:30, and we spent the next hour trying to calculate values and hand-draw the graphs of various sine waves added together. Yuck. Then I had a stroke of inspiration. I input the functions into my graphing calculator, then used my digital camera to take a picture of the screen. I cleaned it up a bit in Photoshop, then slapped it into the homework file. Mmm, multimedia! It looks very artistic, as I’m reflected in the screen. :D

Anyway, just got back from my CSE midterm. I felt a lot more confident about my grasp of the material than I have for previous classes, so there’s that working in my favor. I thoroughly pwnzed the first three of five problems, so regardless of what partial credit I may get, I know I have at least a 65, and these type classes are curved like woah, so I’m feeling good!

Someone beat me to the punch and made a Spike/Angel fanvid to Avenue Q’s The More You Ruv Someone (The More You Want to Kill Them). And it’s quite well done, too, so I’m not compelled to still make one myself out of spite. *frowls* The timing stinks, as over the past couple weeks, I’ve started to seriously pursue vidding, and I’ve been gathering clips. I guess sooner is better than later, though. If a vid like this already exists, it would be even more frustrating to discover it later in the game.

This is even more annoying than when someone else beat Rebecca and me to the punch with our Corpse Cam Scam.

Hey, looky at who’s on the front page of IMDB! Please meet Summer Glau.

(Though I really don’t like that picture of her. It creeps me out to no end. Though it’s not nearly as creepy as this poster in the London underground.)

And I promised myself I wasn’t going to post any more Serenity reviews, but I really liked this article from “The Guardian”. And this article from Locus Online. So consider my vow broken. Um… have some Zombie!Jayne fanfiction!

More great reviews for Serenity, to compensate for the uproariously funny Serenity fanatacism fanwank.

KSL Movie Show Review — two Firefly virgins gush about how this was what the new Star Wars movies should have been like. Both give 3 1/2 stars out of 4, despite what it says on the front page.

NPR’s Patrick Stoner has good things to say, but also calls it “lighter” than Star Wars. To that I say “huh?”
