I just came back from “The Majestic”. Cute. Highlights of the movie include a bar named the “Coco Bongo”, which is the name of the night club in “The Mask”; a fairly prominent character named “Irene”; and a leading lady who once played Marita Covarrubias on “The X-Files”. I had a good laugh when I finally placed her. Yesterday, I saw “The Royal Tenenbaums”, which was highly entertaining. It had the most dry camera work I’ve ever seen — completely flat-on in every shot — which proved a welcome respite from the “fly like an eagle” cinematography I’ve experienced recently. So dessicated that it was incredibly original. A novel experience. Good to see the Wilson boys again. I once met Luke Wilson. I have his autograph somewhere. We had a fairly decent conversation, which mostly consisted of him talking to other people, then pleading with me not to let the teenybopper population know that he was there. I told him he was incredibly entertaining in “Bad Blood”, the greatest X-Files episode ever, and he thanked me. That was nice. Wow. Without realizing, I’ve slipped in to writing in Tenenbaum style! Flat, dry, and with little variation, yet still amusing and worth a read/showing. Deep. I think I’ll check my email now.
