OOH! This just in from Joss:

ONE WEEK ONLY! AN INTERNET MINISERIES EVENT!

“Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” will be streamed, LIVE (that part’s not true), FREE (sadly, that part is) right on Drhorrible.com, in mid-July. Specifically:

ACT ONE (Wheee!) will go up Tuesday July 15th.

ACT TWO (OMG!) will go up Thursday July 17th.

ACT THREE (Denouement!) will go up Saturday July 19th.

All acts will stay up until midnight Sunday July 20th. Then they will vanish into the night, like a phantom (but not THE Phantom — that’s still playing. Like, everywhere.)

JOY OF ALL JOYS! Details here.

…which reminds me of a quote from earlier this week, when my mom sent me my big poster tube from college so Raoul could sign my massive Dresden poster.

Ryan: Is that your new Josh Whedon poster?
Me: Yeah. It’s advertising his shows Bunny the Vampire Slayer and Angle.
Alex: …I want to see that.

Tonight, I’m taking a bus to D.C. for a spontaneous day trip! As tomorrow’s weather looks ominous, I’m planning to take the MUSEUMS! route rather than the MONUMENTS! route. Fred has been gathering recommendations here. So far, the International Spy Museum is sounding the most appealing, but I am also drawn to the Mall’s sheer concentration of awesome museums. I’ll have to research more this afternoon.

To catch up on my blogging: Friday night, I went on a date that included food and an Improv Everywhere event. Alex and I were both excited about it, but the event ended up crashing and burning. The idea was cool, but it was raining, and the IE folks had difficulty coordinating everything, and we ended up standing out in the rain and wind with an inadequate umbrella on the middle of the Brooklyn Bridge for an hour and a half. My light jacket wasn’t really up for the chore. And the umbrella broke from the wind ten minutes before we left, so we got soaked. When I got home and saw myself in the mirror, my skin was bloodless white. I looked like a consumptive waif. I had to sit in a hot bath for twenty minutes before I felt like a human again.

Yet shockingly, I had a great time. The dinner beforehand was excellent (Thai!), and conversation was fun. We’re never short of fodder for discussion, and he’s just the right amount of geeky that I feel neither like a hopeless dork nor somehow inadequate in my geekishness. And Saturday, Alex is going to cook dinner for me, so I call this major win. :D

Thoughts on Dollhouse, by the way:

Although the “Fox” part makes me cringe, I’m delighted to see that they’ve already picked up the first seven episodes. Hopefully we’ll get to see at least three of them before it’s canceled to make way for a reality TV show about ordinary Americans performing oral surgery on each other. On the other hand, the success of Lost and Heroes and my beloved Pushing Daisies gives me hope that the world at large is starting to appreciate high concept genre TV, rather than it just being beloved by a niche fanbase. Maybe it has a chance!

Regardless, it’s always better to have lived and loved and gotten preemptively canceled and launched massive, fruitless renewal campaigns than never to have loved at all.

Due to creative differences, Joss is no longer attached to the Wonder Woman project. Suckage.

At least that gives him more time to work on Goners and Runaways and the Buffy season 8 comic and stuff, but… no, there’s no way to positively spin this. It’s just lame. After Serenity‘s lackluster box office performance, see if he ever gets tapped for a major motion picture again. Now how soon can the fandom get a hold of the script?

I cheer myself slightly with the news that a helpline for distressed Potter fans is being set up, because two characters will be killed off in the final installment. Too funny!

Okay, let’s answer some comments!

Rebecca: The Dresden Files has billboards? Sweet!

Sara M: Since when is “not knowing each other” a barrier to sharing digital content online? XD

Chungy: Bush/Sloth? This is why I love you.

Keith: Re: “punching people in the face” as a tag, I’ll do my best. :D
